Spread the love

Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers — in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas.

Banned Book Week for Teachers

Many educational facilities and teacher  celebrate Banned Books Week, often creating displays and programs around the awareness campaign.

The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) supports an Intellectual Freedom Center to help teachers facing challenges to works used in their classrooms. The following resources (PDF) help teachers prepare for teaching the literature they love to teach and their students love to read.
