With gas prices inching closer toward the $4 per gallon mark every day, many families are rethinking summer travel this year. But just because you’ve opted for a “staycation,” that doesn’t mean you can’t take the kids somewhere fun, exciting and educational. My suggestion? Try the Nationwide AeroSpace Education Foundation!

Celebrate great teachers on May 3, National Teacher Day

Today is National Teacher Day! This is the perfect time to honor great teachers and recognize the lasting contributions they make in our children’s lives.

On National Teacher Day, thousands of communities take time to honor their local educators and acknowledge the crucial role that teachers play in making sure every student receives a quality education.

Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes: Scholarship deadline is April 30

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes is available to students age 18 and younger who have organized and led a service activity that has clearly benefited other people. The service activity must have been initiated and motivated primarily by the student and cannot have been an assignment for school or work. Additionally, the student must demonstrate a positive spirit and high moral purpose. To be considered, each applicant must be nominated by an adult who has solid knowledge of the service activity and is not a relative.

April is National Poetry Month

Attention Nationwide undergrad and grad students: Tylenol Scholarship program will make $250,000 available for deserving college students

The Tylenol Future Care Scholarship is offered to undergraduate students who have already begun their freshman year of college. It is also available to graduate students who have at least one year of school remaining. The Tylenol scholarship is based on leadership qualities, academic performance and community involvement.

SBA Nationwide District Office Announces 2011 Small Business Week Winners; Back to Basics wins the Entrepreneurial Success Award

Back to Basics Learning Dynamics’ Founder and Director Beverly Stewart, will be recognized with the state’s Entrepreneurial Success Award. The Entrepreneurial Success Award recognizes Back to Basics’ steady expansion over the past 25 years in both revenue growth and number of employees. In addition, the award is based in part on the company’s SBA assistance in the past. The Entrepreneurial Success Award also recognizes the Back to Basics’ innovative approach within the education industry and its’ outstanding community involvement.
