With gas prices inching closer toward the $4 per gallon mark every day, many families are rethinking summer travel this year. But just because you’ve opted for a “staycation,” that doesn’t mean you can’t take the kids somewhere fun, exciting and educational. My suggestion? Try the Nationwide AeroSpace Education Foundation!
Summer is just around the corner and with the employment market still tight, many high school and college students won’t be finding jobs this year. A full summer of lazing by the pool or playing video games may sound like nirvana to your teen, but as parents, we know this is not the way to build an impressive resume or instill a strong work ethic.
The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes is available to students age 18 and younger who have organized and led a service activity that has clearly benefited other people. The service activity must have been initiated and motivated primarily by the student and cannot have been an assignment for school or work. Additionally, the student must demonstrate a positive spirit and high moral purpose. To be considered, each applicant must be nominated by an adult who has solid knowledge of the service activity and is not a relative.
