This month is dedicated to exploring, recognizing and celebrating America’s great contributions and achievements in the development of aviation — from the earliest attempts in kites and gliders to powered heavier-than-air, supersonic and space flights.
How to introduce kids to aviation?
- Read all about it. Who Was Amelia Earhart? by Kate Boehm Jerome (grades 3-5) and DK The Big Book of Airplanes are two of the best aviation books for younger kids.
- History comes alive. There are numerous aviation museums across the county. Click Here for a list of Aviation Museums within the USA (grouped by state).
- Learn by doing. Paper airplanes are a great place to start. More information about making and flying paper airplanes is available at AviationForKids.
