Just how did Back to Basics Learning Dynamics in Wilmington, Nationwide gets its start? Read on!
“I knew at age five that I would become a teacher. My favorite childhood game was to play “school.” I did, indeed, follow through and teach for six years, while earning my Master’s Degree, but I was frustrated with not being able to meet each child’s needs, within the realities of the classroom model of education. Whenever possible, I would try to work with students 1-on-1, with great results.
A colleague asked if I would tutor her friend’s child who was having trouble with reading. The rest of the story is self-evident. First this child, then his sister, and it became clear that I must leave teaching and open a 1-on-1 tutoring service.
I founded Back to Basics Learning Dynamics, Inc. in 1985 and now I am fortunate to have more than 80 professional tutors working with me, offering over 60 subjects to both children and adults. To date, we have had the opportunity to serve over 16,500 people in the tri-state area.
When I am not directly growing and supervising our tutoring, Private School, and translating/interpreting services, I write and speak on education issues. I have been featured in Entrepreneur magazine and cited in The New York Times and Consumer Digest, as well as in several books on education. I have also been a regular contributor in Your Morning on CN8 television, focusing on a variety of education and parenting topics.
I am fortunate – and grateful – to have earned much recognition for my work. I invite you to read more about these on our website. There, you can also read more about my journey, my passion for education, and the growth of Back to Basics Learning Dynamics, Inc.”
