It’s no secret that women have made major contributions throughout history in every facet of society. From the arts, to science, to politics, women have been shaping the world in which we live.
It wasn’t until 1981, however, that Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week.” And, in 1987, March was designated Women’s History Month.
Since then, March has become a time to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of women both to events through history, and to contemporary society.
