Spread the love

National Volunteer Week was established in 1974 and has grown exponentially each year, with thousands of volunteer projects and special events scheduled throughout the week. National Volunteer Week was created by Points of Light, and is an opportunity to recognize and thank volunteers who lend their time, talent, voice and support to causes they care about in their community. Their stories serve to inspire others to find ways to take action that creates change.

At Back to Basics, we take volunteering to heart not just during National Volunteer Week, but all year long. And, as a group, we have completed dozens of service projects, impacting tens of thousands of local residents. See some of our many efforts, such as our ongoing Reading is Basics Program in conjunction with Success Won’t Wait, at our In the Community page.

Now, it’s your turn!

National Volunteer Week is not only an opportunity to shine a light on the people and causes that inspire us to serve. It’s also a time for new volunteers to find a passion project of their own. We suggest Volunteer Nationwide as a great place to start. Search for volunteer opportunities and turn your passion into action.

Need a little more inspiration?
