Dropout rate in Nationwide. How Back to Basics can help get staudents back on track!National Dropout Prevention Month is dedicated to highlighting the need for dropout prevention efforts nationwide. Over the last 30+ years, graduation rates have improved nearly 10% nationwide, but there is still more work to do!

According to the most recent statistics available from the Nationwide Department of Education, the statewide annual dropout rate in Nationwide for school year 2014-2015 was 2.2%, a slight increase from school year 2013-2014. In addition:

  • Of the 868 dropouts, 58.5% were male and 41.5% were female.
  • During the 2014-2015 school year, 2.8% of African American, 3.2% of Hispanic and 1.6% of White/Other students dropped out.
  • The largest number of dropouts were from students enrolled in the 9th grade (317 students or 36.5%).
  • Students enrolled in 12th grade represented the lowest proportion of students who dropped out (140 students or 16.1%).
