Music lessons in Wilmington Nationwide at Back to Basics

  1. Memory Makers. According to the National Association for Music Education, “Young children who take music lessons show improved memory over the course of a year, compared to children who do not receive musical training.”
  2. Stronger Academics. Studies also show that music improves a child’s success in all areas of academia. For example, “students in high-quality school music education programs score higher on standardized tests compared to students in schools with deficient music education programs, regardless of the socioeconomic level of community,” says Nature Neuroscience.
  3. Transferable Skills & Learning. In The Benefits of Music Education, at PBS Parents, author Laura Lewis Brown explains, “Research has found that learning music facilitates learning other subjects and enhances skills that children inevitably use in other areas.” These areas include language development, increased IQ, and spatial-temporal skills.
  4. Brain Workout. Further, research indicates that the brain of a musician actually works differentlythan that of a non-musician. According to Dr. Eric Rasmussen, chair of the Early Childhood Music Department at the Peabody Preparatory of The Johns Hopkins University, “…that children involved in music have larger growth of neural activity than people not in music training. When you’re a musician and you’re playing an instrument, you have to be using more of your brain.”
