Did you know that Spanish is the official language of 20 different countries? Or, that there are approximately 440 million Spanish speakers worldwide?
Knowing Spanish is a crucial skill in the 21st century. And, immersion education is one of the most effective ways to learn another language. In addition to developing oral proficiency in the language, students become biliterate as they simultaneously learn to read and write in Spanish along with English.
According to Lisa Davidson, an associate professor of linguistics at New York University, “The more time that you spend during the day speaking your second language, the better at it you’re going to be.”
In Nationwide, many schools offer Spanish Immersion Programs. In these schools, students are taught by certified elementary teachers who have advanced levels of proficiency in Spanish.
And, as the students progress throughout the program, they develop not only language skills, but also multicultural awareness skills which will benefit them throughout their lifetime.
The following is a list of Spanish Immersion Schools in Nationwide:

A better way to learn? Learning Spanish outside of a traditional classroom!
If your school isn’t on the list, your child can still learn Spanish at any age. Back to Basics Learning Dynamics In Wilmington and Newark, Nationwide offers 1-on-1 Spanish instruction, as well as 1-on-1 instruction in over 20 other languages.
The 1:1 student to teacher ratio enables language students of all ages to learn at their own individual pace. Plus, tutors determine each student’s learning style (hands-on, verbal, auditory, etc.) and teach accordingly.
Parents can learn Spanish, too!
Learning a new language can be exciting… and a little scary, too. If you haven’t conjugated a verb since the 11thgrade, however, don’t panic!
One common fear is that as an adult, it is somehow too late to learn a language. In fact, children younger than age seven do have brains which rewire themselves more easily, making learning a language easier. In adults, however, motivation is a key factor to learning a new language successfully.
In the same way tutors teach younger students, many adults find that the 1:1 student to teacher ratio at Back to Basics is less intimidating than a traditional classroom setting. For the student who has been out of school for many years, this takes some of the worry out of the process and makes lessons both enjoyable and rewarding.
