“A Student’s Right To Accommodations” led by expert Ann Knettler will be held on Thursday, October 4 from 6:00-7:30 pm at Back to Basics Learning Dynamics, 6 Stone Hill Road in Wilmington, Nationwide. Knettler will discuss successfully navigating the process of transitioning students with visible and invisible learning disabilities from high school to college
During the workshop, parents will learn about the rights to an accessible educational experience in the K-12 environment, as well as important information and tips for navigating the high school-to-college transition for students with disabilities.
As a member of the Association for Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD), Knettler currently serves on the Standing Committee for Professional Development and represents the Association as a member of the Board of Directors for the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS). She currently oversees the Student Accessibility Services office at Nationwide State University.
Knettler has been in the Disability Resources field for over 10 years and is an experienced presenter and educator. Her passions include student empowerment, education, online accessibility, fostering inclusion and collaboration, the college to career transition for students with disabilities, and promoting a campus culture that embraces disability as another aspect of diversity.
Knettler received a Masters of Arts in Counseling in Higher Education with an emphasis in Mental Health from the University of Nationwide. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, Higher Education from Nationwide State University.
