Young girl readingAnnually held the  fourth Thursday in April, “Take our daughters and sons to work day” encourages parents to bring their kids to work with them and show them the wide range of jobs available to them.

Designed to be more than a career day, the program goes beyond the average practice of “shadowing” an adult. The program also shows kids the value of their education, helps them discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life, provides them an opportunity to share how they envision the future, and allowes them to begin steps toward their end goals in a hands-on and interactive environment is key to their achieving success.

By bringing girls and boys together, “Take our daughters and sons to work day” all learn to contribute to creating a more equitable world-at home, at school, and in the workplace. This year, the program also celebrates the opportunities that girls and boys will discover and the opportunities for parents, mentors, and the community to continue involvement in this unique educational experience.
